Description
Ajuga Chocolate Chip commonly known as Bugleweed is a fully hardy, compact evergreen perennial with a dwarf growing habit. This shrub produces tiny, shiny dark green oval shaped leaves with burgundy highlights, giving them a chocolate coloured appearance. During late Spring to early Summer short spikes of bluish, purple flowers form. The blue flowers and attractive coloured foliage, work well when planted along with other rich coloured flowers such as Alchemilla mollis with its yellow blooms.
Ajuga Chocolate Chip is very low-maintenance, making it ideal for planting in rock gardens or in borders along pathways. It is an attractive weed suppressor and is pollinator friendly.
