Pink Ixia Venus Bulbs

  • IXIA BULBS - Ixia 'Venus' a pretty Spring flowering perennial. This cormous perennial has narrow mid-green leaves and produces bright pink flowers. The they can grow to 40cm tall and will flower through spring and summer. When planted en masse, they create a carpet of colour wherever planted.

  • HOW TO PLANT IXIA- Plant these during Autumn to Winter in fertile, well draining soil in full sun to partial shade, 10 cm apart and at a depth, three to four times the size of the bulb. Water well. Add mulch, wood chips and organic matter to the planting area to increase soil drainage. After flowering, allow the foliage to die down. As ixia bulbs are not frost hardy, lift them from the ground in autumn to store over winter. Carefully dig up the bulbs, shake off any excess soil and allow the bulbs to dry in a well-ventilated area.

  • PLANTING POSITION - Grow ixia in well-drained soil rich in organic matter, in full sun to partial shade. When planting, ensure the soil is not waterlogged, as this can cause the bulbs to rot. Ixia are perfect for cut flowers.
