Description
Hyacinthoides hispanica 'Pink', also known as Pink Spanish Bluebell, is a hardy, low-maintenance perennial that produces elegant, bell-shaped flowers in soft pink hues during April and May. These vigorous plants form naturalised drifts and are especially attractive to pollinators. Reaching up to 40 cm in height, they bring a splash of pastel colour to shaded areas and woodland-style plantings.
Plant the bulbs from autumn through early winter in fertile, moist but well-draining soil. Space bulbs approximately 10 cm apart and plant them at a depth around three to four times the height of the bulb. Choose a spot in partial or dappled shade. Water thoroughly after planting and consider mulching with organic matter to improve soil quality and moisture retention.
Pink Spanish Bluebells are ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, under deciduous trees, or naturalised areas. Their ability to spread gently over time makes them perfect for planting in groups or swathes. Also suitable for pots or containers, they provide a lovely, informal look and pair well with other spring favourites like ferns, primroses, and forget-me-nots.
