Description
Salvia officinalis ‘Purpurascens,’ known as purple sage, is a striking, evergreen herb. Its leaves, a deep purple, are highly valued for their fragrance. This colourful foliage offers year-round interest, whether in a herb garden, as a border, or in a container on the patio. The leaves are also a kitchen essential, ideal for flavouring meats, vegetables, and sauces. During late spring to early summer, it may also produce small, attractive flowers that draw in pollinators.
This variety develops into a compact, bushy plant, making it both visually appealing and practical. It's a popular choice for mixed planting schemes and dedicated herb gardens. Purple sage is resilient and drought-tolerant once established, making it easy to grow and long-lasting, providing both beauty and flavor.
