Description
Tulip 'Apeldoorn' is a traditional favourite among Spring-flowering tulips, celebrated for its large, bright red blooms and strong, upright stems. As a Darwin Hybrid variety, it offers exceptional durability and vibrant colour, making it a standout feature in any Spring garden display. Blooming from mid to late Spring (typically April to May), 'Apeldoorn' creates a bold and elegant presence in beds, borders, and large containers.
Plant tulip bulbs in Autumn, in a spot with well draining soil and full sun from October to December, before the ground freezes. Space bulbs approximately 10 cm apart and plant them at a depth of two to three times the height of the bulb. Water after planting, add compost or mulch to help improve drainage and boost growth. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the bulb for the following year.
Tulips are perfect for planting in flower beds, garden borders, and patio containers. Their upright form and showy blooms are ideal for formal planting schemes or mixed garden styles. For maximum impact, plant in groups or drifts of one colour or blend different varieties for a multi-tonal display. Tulips also make excellent cut flowers, allowing you to bring their vibrant beauty indoors.
