Helleborus known as the Christmas Rose are evergreen perennials that are fantastic for adding some colour to the garden during the Autumn, Winter months. The flower heads can also be snipped off, to display floating in bowls of water as part of Christmas table decor.

• Hellebores are grown as hardy garden plants and withstand frosts well, being a perennial plant they will come back year after year. They can be planted at the front of garden borders, patio pots or window boxes and look lovely when grown in groups. These pollen rich plants are loved by bees and other pollinating insects.


• Christmas roses are best grown in partial shade but can cope with some sunshine, in moist well draining neutral to alkaline soil that is not too wet or too dry. Hellebore also make great plants for shady areas of the garden. To encourage further growth, remove any spent flower heads and cut back old leaves.
