Description
Ornamental cabbage or flowering cabbage, botanically known as Brassica have smooth, wavy edges with bright centres of coloured leaves. This variety of ornamental cabbages have white and green leaves and will grow about 30 cm wide and up 40 cm tall with a mounding habit.
Brassica are UK Winter hardy. These are great plants for the colder months. As the temperatures drop the colour of the leaves becomes more intense.
Ornamental cabbages are actually edible when young, although the flavour can be rather strong.
These plants love rather rich and cool soil. Avoid waterlogged soil in Winter. Full sunlight is preferable, even though it can tolerate partial sun. Under full shade, colours won't be as intense.
