Description
Allium Red Mohican or 'ornamental onion' is a tall, herbaceous perennial with a striking and unusual look. Its rich burgundy-red, oval flower heads are topped with distinctive white tufts, resembling a mohawk, making them a true statement plant. Blooming from late Spring to early Summer, each dense head is made up of starry florets that attract pollinators. These eye-catching flowers grow up to 1m tall and offer unique colour and shape to your garden year after year.
Plant Allium Red Mohican bulbs in Autumn to early Winter in fertile, well-draining soil in full sun. Space bulbs approximately 10cm apart and plant at a depth three to four times the size of the bulb. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch if needed to improve drainage. Cut back flowering stems once the blooms fade. These hardy bulbs require little care and return reliably each year.
Perfect for flower beds, borders, or patio pots, Allium Red Mohican brings vertical flair and rich colour to mixed planting schemes. They pair beautifully with ornamental grasses, low-growing perennials, or other alliums. These ornamental bulbs are a unique and memorable addition to modern or cottage-style gardens.
